Mike—this piece is about the public’s reaction to the Duke Lacrosse case as well as their reactions to rape cases in general. It was written while charges were still pending (look at the date).

Women who come forward about rape are dismissed all the time. The Duke case hasn’t changed that fact. This is the central argument of the essay—women are not believed by most people (men and women) when they say they have been raped. If you want to discuss or debate this argument, fine. If you just want to trash UBUNTU or the accuser in the Duke case, you can take it elsewhere. Thanks.

The State Attorney General, Durham Police Department, City Council, and now even Mr. Nifong himself acknowledge that this case was based on a lie and no evidence of a rape ever existed. Care to update your position or is your credibility in line with that of UBUNTU who (as far as research can tell) is the only group in existence that still claims this rape happened?
