Come watch films and critique pop culture with FIST!

This Thursday and every Thursday that follows! 8:00pm

FIST plans to hold screenings of over-produced and under-examined Hollywood films, especially films made after 1965. Often, race, gender and class are easier to examine and comprehend when they are reflected through the lens of popular culture. Most Americans develop their social
understanding through what they see in movies, TV shows, and music videos. Pop culture also reflects the political and historical context from which it emerges, and much can be gleaned about the motivations of both artist and financier from examining its content.

Examples: Romance movies, war films, Blaxploitation films, 1980’s teen flicks, 1990’s hood films, dude-buddy movies, so-called “chick flicks,” parody films, concert movies, comedies, anything under the sun.

All screenings will be held at the ACRe Space at 2419 Mayview St. (on southeast corner of Chamberlain St) in Raleigh near NC State campus.
